Easter Sunday: First Fruits

Happy Easter, church! He is risen!

Easter Sunday, the day we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus from death, is an incredibly important event not just for the church, but for all of humanity. Everything leads up to Easter—it is THE event in history.

This week, Pastor Mario explained in his sermon how, although sin entered the world and caused a rupture between heaven and earth, God has been working throughout all of history to redeem and restore all of creation back to Him. And Jesus is the essential bridge between the two. Catch the full sermon here!

19 If we have hoped in Christ only in this life, we are of all people most to be pitied.

20 But the fact is, Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep. 21 For since by a man death came, by a Man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. 23 But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, after that those who are Christ’s at His coming, 24 then comes the end, when He hands over the kingdom to our God and Father, when He has abolished all rule and all authority and power. 25 For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet. 26 The last enemy that will be abolished is death.

The Bible Project has some special resources on Easter that we are sharing this week as we give thanks for and reflect on the resurrection.

First, an explainer video about the resurrection itself and how it fits into the story of Jesus. Check out the whole Luke-Acts series to get the complete picture!

Tim Mackie and John Collins also have a podcast series on "Resurrection as a Way of Life," which we highly recommend for a deeper dive!

Finally, join us next week as we begin to explore the theme of BECOMING in a new sermon series!

Know that you are deeply loved and called to share that love with others this week. God bless!
